Session 10 reflection

I cannot imagine how simple nowadays to produce some interesting videos with lots of websites.

'Storybird' is simple and user-friendly for students to use. Primary kids can also master it to make a lot of interesting and wonderful videos. But we need to use the pictures it provided, maybe it is for fun for little kids.

However, with 'mystorybook', we can make some personal stories with meaningful messages. It is not hard to use and even kids can add on their own pictures to tell their own stories. It is really very meaningful for children.

How to move someone with the messages in you? Simple video with your memorable photos, background music and your touching message would do. "My 4B babies" by Ms Ani Chan is really a role model for me to show my students how powerful digital story-telling is.

Also with 'ginger it' and 'eTutor',

My travel to Estonia in 'mystorybook' (be patient! The link is quiet slow>_<, sorry about that)

Reflection on session 9

Making cloze passages and cross word puzzles are really hard tasks for teachers. It is not convenience to adjust the format in Word. But with the J Cloze and J Cross, it is no longer a problem. In addition, students can do it just like playing games, they would enjoy practicing English!

'Nearpod' is becoming more popular in e-learning now. There is so much interaction between students and the teacher using it. I think I should be more familiar to this app in the future.

How to teach reading comprehension is always a problem, but with the help of 'Actively Learn', reading comprehension is no longer a hard task for teaching. Questions could be inserted to passage and we need not to swap again and again between the passage and the questions. And students could get clearer understanding with clear notes and referrals. I will practice more in using it.

My first 'Digital Story telling' Project: A story for the Mother's Day. I did the voice-over for both the mother and the little girl! (Funny and amazing! With special sound effects!)

This is the video I made for teaching the love of mother.

Session 8 reflection

I love editing videos, that is interesting and exciting. But I don't know how to teach my students to do so as the technique is so complicated.

However, with Adobe Spark Video, nothing is impossible. That is very user-friendly as they have lots of wonderful templates for students to manipulate. You know, students won't have any directions unless you give them a lot of guidance. Students just need to press a few buttons, they can make some videos by themselves easily! Time flies, it was impossible when I first became a teacher. Several years ago, I found that asking students to do video-editing was a hard task even though I taught some brilliant kids.  But now normal kids can also make some fantastic videos by themselves.

In addition, with screencasting tools, it is possible for students to do revision at home. Is it a kind of flipped classroom? I think some hard-working students, they really want to know what had happened in class when they take sick leave. Screencasting is something which can fulfill their wishes.
